Rachel Barrie, award-winning master blender of Benriach Single Malt Scotch Whisky and James Macsween, owner of the world famous Macsween of Edinburgh, take us on a journey of flavour and share how the two perfectly complement each other on Burns Night.
As one of only a handful of female Master Blenders, Rachel Barrie is creating some of the world’s finest Single Malt Scotch whiskies. With over 26 years of experience, Rachel is the Master Blender for The Glendronach, Benriach and Glenglassaugh distilleries. She first worked as a Research Scientist at the Scotch Whisky Research Institute, optimising flavour character in distillation and maturation before mastering her craft as a master blender.
Benriach The Original Ten best encapsulates the signature smooth, fruit forward and multi-layered character of Benriach. The Original Ten is three-cask matured for at least ten years in bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin oak, creating layers of luscious orchard fruit, sumptuous honeyed malt and toasted oak, all interwoven with a subtle trace of smoke. Macsween, will also be sharing Britain’s most loved original and vegetarian haggis.
Macsween is a third-generation family company established as a butchers shop in Edinburgh in the 1950s. The company has passed down through a family of natural entrepreneurs to the current owner, James. He is passionate about making the best tasting foods, prioritising environmental sustainability and recognising the importance of people and places within community.
